Alex (Captain)

Meet the gaffer, the captain and co-founder of the team. Born and bred in West London, growing up in a lone parent household Alex used football as a form of joyful escapism falling in love with the dream that one day he may be able to turn his fortunes around through the beautiful game.  Starting his footballing journey as a right back, he has played against former youth internationals, internationals and semi pro players in a variety of pick up games, friendlies and tournaments. Despite never making it very far in his footballing journey he took his experiences of playing against better players to help him grow into the midfielder he is today. Contributing to the cause Alex has filled in for the Tek in a variety of positions including Goalkeeper, Defence, Centre Mid, Midfield and Striker. He spent his last two seasons playing as a left mid. Though he enjoys playing in midfield the most, leading by example he plays wherever the team needs him.

Joe (Vice-Captain) 

Meet our vice captain, assistant manager and originator for the team name. Joe has been a godsend ever since he joined the team midway through our first official season in Elephant and Castle. Coming to the team with a wealth of experience playing as a centre back for his university team his all round quality on and off the ball helped the team dramatically improve from a relegation threatened team into the best in-form team in the league.

 

As the seasons progressed he has grown into one of our best central midfielders. His ability to win the ball, disrupt attacks, read tactical situations, win 50/50's combined with his ever improving ability to start attacks, dribble between the lines, pass and receive the ball have helped us tremendously. He has grown into a true leader which reflects  who he is as an individual. Fiercely loyal to his teammates, he gives his all every single game. Unafraid to take on the full responsibility of leading the team in the captains absence it's been an honour for us to have him as one of the heartbeats of the team. Finishing runner up twice in our end of season awards he has arguably been our most important player since making his debut with the team.

Will (2cnd Captain)

Our other co-founder Will has been part of the project since day one. A brainchild between Alex and Will in what started as just a kickabout between work colleagues into something much more special. They have been through it all with the team from the dark days when most the players turned their back on us until the great days when we were able to win 8 games in a row. He has also recruited some of our best players including Joe and Sully. 

 

A charismatic individual with a flair like no other, Will started his footballing journey as a goalkeeper at first, before excelling as a centre forward, centre back and then finally into the position he carries today right mid. He is a prolific goalscorer finishing as our top goalscorer in our first three seasons and counting. His pace, power, on-the-ball skill, unreal work ethic, his ability to track back, win his 50/50's as well his incredible desire to win makes him a formidable force on the pitch for any team to deal with.  A key cornerstone member within our footballing family we are delighted to have him as one of the leaders and star players.

Luke

Our player of the season for our third season. Unanimously agreed upon by the whole team Luke was by far and away our best player throughout the season. Consistent from start to finish Luke put in some fantastic performances alongside showing great leadership helping us maintain a great foundation throughout the season.

 

A monster talent who was scouted to play in America on a full scholarship when he was younger although he turned it down, his immense talents has seen him play as a striker, centre mid and as a winger during his footballing journey. For The Tek Republic we use him as a defender but only because he is by far and away our best defender and as always he gives his all to the team week in week out. A powerful right foot he is our designated free kick and penalty taker. He would also have many more worldies to his name if Charlie wasn't there to block all his free kicks. In absence of our vice captains/captain he is fourth in command.

Charlie

Has been with the team since day one. A loyal player through and through Charlie arguably has one of the best footballing brains within the team. A champion of wanting us to play the beautiful game with more passing, on the deck football and controlling of the tempo he has been instrumental in helping us slowly evolve. At the heart of defence he helps us start attacks, recycle the ball, reset and also pick out through balls for our more pacey players. 

 

What we love about Charlie is you can't question his love for the team. There was tension at times between him and the captain but the tension was always from a good place with both Charlie and the captain only wanting the best for the team and the lads. As always within a strong footballing family we need strong characters to help keep us all accountable.

 

Charlie is another player that has played in various positions during his time with the team. Always happy to offer advice or help. His belief in the team is unquestioned and like all of us within this footballing family he shares our ultimate goal of one day becoming champions as a team.

David Maxy

An incredible addition to the fold, joined us towards the end of our third season and has been nothing short of a god send for us ever since. Pacey, powerful, great on the ball, great off the ball, can pass and move, fluid in his positioning with a great tactical mind he can both score and assist. He's without doubt a handful for all of our opposition. 

 

A footballing journey that has seen him play best as an attacking midfielder or striker, he has adapted well within the fold as either a striker or winger. A dual threat he can get beyond the lines or drive through the lines and make something happen. 

 

Onwards and upwards continues to be his ethos as we as a team understand his game more and more, this will only put us in a fantastic position moving forward as the seasons roll on. We welcome him with full arms as we experience this footballing journey together.

Jared

Our number one when he is available. A beast between the sticks who is a fantastic shot stopper with the ability to stay switched on throughout the game. He has made countless unreal saves for us to provide us with some memorable victories. His desire to win is encircled with his communication to help keep the team defensively sound. Always willing to offer advice when he believes we need it most. In a way he is our most valuable player in a position that carries the utmost importance. The last line of defence and likewise the first port of attack.

 

His footballing journey has seen him play for some big clubs including his current team where he is the number one at Barnes FC. We wish him nothing but luck and good fortune during his 11 aside journey and I for one can't wait to see them play against a team we have a history against in Chelsea Rovers. 

 

Tall, agile, a fitness fanatic and a joy to be around. He is a fantastic player to have in the fold and it's our pleasure to have him as our number one whenever he is around. 

Sully

A fantastic player he we our very fortunate to have him in the team when he is available. A player with many talents he is a beast when it comes to winning his 50/50's, putting pressure on the opposition, driving forward with the ball. This is combined with his natural ability to sniff out danger. He is our most versatile player in regards to the fact he has already had standout performances wherever you play. A real stand out footballing talent.

 

He comes to the fold with an abundance of experience from the 11 aside game where he is one of his teams best players. Like David he is new to the fold but has already hit the ground running. His long standing friendship with Will also makes his on the pitch footballing chemistry with Will an immense asset to have as they seem to usually know exactly where each other are on the pitch.

 

He embodies our motto like no other. Always respectful but always plays to win, never leaves anything left but 100% effort and commitment on the pitch and I believe he will become a huge asset for us moving forward.

Christian

Joined us at the start of the third season and has been a great asset to have in the team. Always plays with his heart on his sleeve, one of his main strengths being his one on one battles, he is strong and aggressive in the tackle, yet fair and honest in his approach the perfect blend. Growing as a player he is getting better and better with his distribution. 

 

As always it's not always about having a strong 8, a championship team needs a strong 10/11 players that you can rotate in and out that's a strength we have knowing we can rely on Christian whenever he plays for us. 

 

A competitor through and through and a rising star in the fitness industry, it's a pleasure to have Christian in the fold. We wish him nothing but success as he continues to set the industry alight. 

 

We are delighted to have him part of our footballing family. Trustworthy and someone who gives it their all, as we all continue to grow as a team there will be moments we can all look back on and say we did it together.

Dan

Captain of Pique Blinders. Dan is a great leader in his own right, an asset to have when discussing tactics and asking for feedback. He has many fantastic attributes as a football player, can drive with the ball, strong in the tackle, a nightmare for the opposition in the six yard box, can score, can assist, can drive down the bylines. These talents are mixed in with his natural tools such as his height, strength and determination. Always positive and a strong personality that fits into the fold perfectly. A winner through and through he has led his team to some great runs including to back to back runner up placings and soon in my opinion they will be champions. 

 

Outside of the beautiful game he is a hugely successful musician/artist and poet with a growing fanbase, his music has reach mainstream platforms such as radio one and four and the sky really is the limit as his career continues to go from strength to strength. This is on top of running his own theatre production company and acting including performances at Edinburgh festivals and the west end. Which makes us even more lucky that the little free time he has he spends with us. A huge friend of mine and massive part of our footballing family.

David

One of our best ever players he was the recipient of our player of the season in our very first season. A tremendous talent with incredible dribbling skills, an unreal desire to win every single ball, creative, can break the through the lines, can play great through balls. Just a tremendous talent. 

 

We have grown together on this footballing journey, he was in it from the very start and while he can't play often anymore due to work commitments the door is always open to him. He more than anyone knows how tough those early days were when we were getting hammered every single week. Loss after loss after loss after loss. We showed unbelievable mental fortitude alongside Will to keep going on. Eventually we turned it around. Tek wouldn't be where it is today without someone I am truly blessed to call a brother. 

 

A brotherhood forged on the pitch, he will forever be a huge part of our footballing family. 

Danny

The Breen Machine holder of a lethal right foot finish, his impact was hugely felt during the HNK Coram's era. His accolades during this era include the goal of the season, and three other goals that made the top ten along with scoring in our first ever league game. The Tek as we know it would not be what it is today without the Breen Machine, it was actually his friendly rivalry with the gaffer that actually started this whole thing when we just started off a games between work colleagues and friends.

 

Some of his favourite players include Jorginho, Mount and Xavi due to their passing heavy styles, when allowed time and space Danny is a devastating player to line up against who can pick teams apart with a full repertoire of passing skills. Including short, long, on the deck and in the air. Due to his shot power he is also a deadly dead ball specialist providing numerous assists from corner kicks. A cool calm demeanor he remains positive at all times and is always happy help out wherever the team needs him.

Football Club Supporter = Chelsea.

Dominic

Dom (Right hand side of picture) is a great goalkeeper that has filled out for us on numerous occasions when we needed him most. Already playing for two other teams he has more than helped us on on more than occasion when we desperately needed a player of his quality to fill in. A terrific shot stopper who is a very good communicator helping the team maintain shape and track their runners. He is the perfect debutant when our number one can't play due to their similar skill sets.

 

He has a wealth of 11 aside experience including playing as the number one for his current team OFC, which the gaffer sometimes also plays for. Speaking off the gaffer him and Dom go way back since college days and it's a pleasure to have him as a friend of the team. 

 

An even cooler fact is he actually also a heck off a cricket player who is a superb all-rounder his accolades include player of the year in 2018 for the Twickenham cricket club as well helping them win the championship in 2017.

Matthew Stone

Fantastic player that can play in either the defence or midfield. Can score goals, can provide assists, is never afraid to ask for the ball, never afraid to take a player on and has a fantastic drive that can penetrate the opposition no matter how determined they are with their low block. Unafraid to put a challenge in and has an unreal determination to win. Great with both feet he is add a natural fluidity to a pass and move game which is crucial against teams that defend very well. One of his highlighted games for us included a game where we won 3-2 and Matthew got all three goals for us.

 

Despite all these attributes you would think his personality would be one like a pitbull. Far from it, he is one of the nicest and kindest guy you would ever meet. Off the pitch he always has time for people more in need. In his spare time outside or work he puts in countless and countless hours devoting himself to the church he is apart off, helping out with their youth clubs and contributions to the wider local community. 

 

Thank you to Luke who helped recruit him to the team, We are very lucky to have him in the fold when he is available. 

Frazer Poulter

An inspired early-mid season signing Frazer breaks into the fold with the ability to play both in the heart of the midfield or defence. This will allow us to add even more fluidity to the team and also will allow Luke more time in the midfield as I swap between the two during the games utilising both their strengths. Frazer is an cultured passer of the ball with a great first touch with the vision to put it all together and open up the opposition. He can receive the ball under pressure or in tight areas with no trouble at all. Picks up great positions and has the physicality to win all his one on one duels. 

 

Prior to entering the fold Frazer has a fantastic footballing resume that includes playing at Leyton Orient as a youth and Vancouver Whitecaps when he was overseas for his studies. Great to have around as well for the aftermatch socials I am incredibly lucky that when he is free he is now a welcomed member of the Tek. 

Nath

A personal good friend of mine and colleague, Nath comes to us with a fantastic footballing pedigree including a run with the Nottingham Forest youth team as well as a prolonged run in step 4 football before he flew overseas to serve his country. Now back in the U.K full time establishing his brand his creativity, ambition, intelligence, zest for improvement, ability to read situations, wit, charisma, loyalty and business acumen will no doubts take him and his brand right to the very top with whatever he chooses to do. 

 

Deployed in the heart of midfield, he can receive the ball under pressure, in tight areas and comfortably still find the right pass or beat his man. Footballing IQ that is through the roof in his first two games already making a tremendous impact not just on the pitch but also helping us as a team grow tactically. He understands the game as well as just about anybody and is a real asset that the Tek are very lucky to have in the fold.

Ashley Halsey

A quality left footed defender/midfielder who provides bursting runs down the wing, gets stuck in, never loses his 50/50's and plays for the team every single time. He comes to us with a wealth of experience in 11's, 5's and 7's. A fitness fanatic who is always in tremendous shape as well as a very talented boxer he is always looking to challenge himself and win every single time.

 

We go back since we were teenagers with over 13 years of friendship behind us we continue to fly the flag for West London. 

 

Club supporter - Chelsea

Jack Harding

Arguably the best defender I know with numerous trophies behind him including league titles, tournament titles, player of the season awards and goal of the season awards. He plays for two 11 aside teams both teams that have won back to back to back promotions over the last few seasons. He's a perennial winner who hates to lose with vast experience experience behind him through all formats of the game.

 

I have known Jack since I was 11 years old which makes that over 20 years, going back to our days playing football at redlees park on the red astroturf. It's been a long journey but one thing we can both agree on is we have always loved the beautiful game. Both of us maturing our games to the level we are at today.

 

Outside of football he is a champion boxer who despite all the skills and accolades he has achieved on the London circuit remains down to earth and one of the most humble guys I know. Don't let that fool you though, he's a winner all the way through.
